About National Horticultural Research Institute

The National Horticultural Research Institute (Headquarter); located in Ibadan was established in 1975 with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme in conjunction with the food and Agricultural Organization as a fruits and vegetable research and demonstration centre.

It acquired the status of a national institute in June 1976. The Institute headquarter is situated on 350 hectares of land at Jericho Reservation Area, Idi-Ishin, Ibadan, in the rainforest agro-ecological zone of South Western Nigeria. To give a national outlook, the institute has two substations located in Mbato-Okigwe, Imo state in South-Eastern Nigeria, and the other at Bagauda, Kano state.

Requirements For NIHORT Recruitment

Any candidates who are interested in applying for the NIHORT recruitment should go through the requirements to make sure you meet to them.

  • Possession of B.Sc., HND, NCE in any related course, and certificates must be obtained from any renowned institution.
  • National Diploma (ND) or a National Certificate of Education (NCE), obtained from any renowned institution.
  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC), or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSC), with credits in at least three (3) subjects including the English Language.
  • National Examination Council (NECO) certificate, with passes in a minimum of four (4) subjects obtained at one sitting or five (5) subjects obtained at a maximum of two sittings with credit passes in core subjects, English Language inclusive.
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) certificate (Advanced Level), with credit passes in at least two (2) subjects obtained at one sitting or Credit passes in a minimum of three (3) subjects obtained at two sittings. English Language must be included in the core subjects i.e a credit in the English Language is compulsory.
