About EFCC Academy

Greetings from the EFCC Academy!

The EFCC Academy started as the Training and Research Institute (TRI) in 2005, and was renamed EFCC Academy in 2012. The Academy’s mission is to establish and provide training and research to Commission personnel, other law enforcement and security agencies, MDA partners, and other Anti-Corruption Agencies (ACAs) both within and outside Nigeria. The Academy’s operations are driven by Sections 6 and 11 of the EFCC Establishment Act (2004).

The EFCC Academy is in charge of overseeing all of the EFCC’s training and capacity-building programs, with other departments required to key in and house their training. The training given are tailored to the needs of the Commission’s different divisions and sections. Its programs are oriented toward the growth of advanced skills.

The Academy’s educational programs are divided into four categories:

1. Internal Ability Creation (ongoing education) aimed at enhancing employees’ specialized sectional skills;

2. Interactions with selected MDAs to strengthen awareness of corruption manifestations and methods for detecting, curbing, and punishing corrupt practices.

3. Customized training programs on corruption prevention tailored to the needs of MDAs and law enforcement agencies;

4. Other law enforcement, defense, and anti-corruption agencies both within and outside Nigeria have undergone training.

5. Cadet training for commission employees who work as operatives.

In order to achieve the above goals, the Academy uses the following strategies:

a) Regular staff work: Focusing on focused study and policy analysis, database creation, publications, and library development.

b) Creating and implementing related training and conference programs.

c) Establishment of an information and communication technology (ICT) network to promote research and information sharing.

The Academy works closely with development partners and other donors to create and deliver training that supports the Commission and the country as a whole.

The Academy has six divisions: [a] Study and Publication Division, [b] Capability Creation Program Division, [c] Cadet Preparation Division, [d] Networking and Communication Division, [e] Certificate Courses Division, and [f] Administration Division.


Certificate, Ordinary National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, and Master’s Degrees in law enforcement studies, Anticorruption Studies, Cybercrime, and Digital Forensics, and Forensic Accounting are also on the way from the Academy.
