In Edo, NDE empowers 300 women and youths.

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) announced that it has given N300,000 to 300 unemployed women and youths in Edo State who completed training under its Micro-Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES).
Mr Nasir Argungu, Director-General of NDE, announced this in Benin City shortly after the training, which he described as aimed at creating decent job opportunities.

Argungu, who was portrayed by Mrs Roseline Olawunmi, Deputy Director of NDE’s Vocational Skills Development Programme, encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the program in order to improve their living conditions.

He claimed that the Federal Government was willing to resolve unemployment problems through various empowerment programs.

“In Edo, NDE is determined to train 10,000 women and youths under the guidance of the Director-General, Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan Argungu.

“Today, I am pleased to inform you that 300 of the 700 people we have trained in various skill acquisitions will be empowered.

“They would go home with N10,000 to start a small business based on what they learned from the training, as well as a certificate of participation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Donben Donyegha, President of the South-South Unity Movement of Nigeria, has praised President Muhammadu Buhari and the Special Advisor on Presidential Amnesty Programme, Prof. Charles Dokubo, for providing Starter Packs to over 1,000 youths from the impacted communities of Gelegele in Ovia South West Local Government of Edo State.

The Presidential Amnesty Office had previously issued a marching order requiring impacted communities in the Niger Delta region, including host and access communities, to be equipped with starter packs including deep freezers, generators, welding machines, gas cookers, sewing machines, baking, and hairdressing equipment.

Donben told journalists during the presentation of the items to the beneficiaries that the impacted communities empowerment scheme was tailored for a group of youths who had learned skills either through the amnesty’s organized training or on their own but were unable to be incorporated into the amnesty program.
